Summary
Avanti is seeking a Finance Manager responsible for the day-to-day management of the accounts process up to and including the generation of financial accounts, site accounting processes, budgeting & reporting.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The management and maintenance of all accounts systems to ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
- The generation and maintenance of all month end documents such as journals and reconciliations and to ensure that all documents are verified and signed off as necessary, while finalizing the month end accounts.
- Produce & present monthly and other periodic reports for the senior management team.
- Planning and organizing up to one year forward to ensure that all accounts and accounts related documents are generated, maintained and submitted on time.
- Identification and resolution of any discrepancies, which range from simple to complex, that are identified within accounts systems and processes.
- Coordinating the annual budget/forecast planning process whereby data is collated from all areas of the business to determine the strategic direction of the business for the next year, and then maintain and update throughout the year through the Forecast process.
- Analyze and track capital projects and expenditures including management reports.
- The job holder is a key point of contact during the internal and external audits and is expected to satisfactorily resolve any audit queries.
- Management and control of debtors to ensure that payment is received against invoices within payment terms, that credit limits are not exceeded and that the necessary is taken to recover old debts. This can involve difficult, sensitive discussions with customers in order to ensure that payment is received.
- Management and control of creditors to ensure that the value of creditors is maximised while paying within agreed payment terms.
- A wide range of routine decisions are taken on the accounts process, with others being escalated.
- Generation and submission of statutory returns.
- Required to review all tasks regularly so as to identify and recommend system / process improvements.
- In some locations, the role holder is required to manage a small team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Member of one of the following professional bodies preferred - CPA, CMA, ACA, ACCA, CGMA
Knowledge & Experience:
- A full understanding of the accounting process and principles.
- Minimum of 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment preferred
- In depth knowledge of corporate business procedures.
- The ability to work alone with a full work schedule in order to achieve tight deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and tenacity to achieve results through the participation of others whenever necessary.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Communication Skills:
- Must have oral & written proficiency in the English language.
- All levels within the business, finance at customers and suppliers, Group Accounts, both internal and external audit teams, external tax service providers and solicitors for debt collection.
- Proportion of time between external and internal contacts: 15:85
Computer Skills:
- Great Plains and SAP experience preferred
- Strong MS Office skills - especially Excel and Power Point
