Position Travel Requirements
Ability and willingness to travel up to 5% of the time; primarily between Grand Rapids, Bridgewater, and Green Bay offices or for continuing development related activities.
Typical Work Schedule
Normal business hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt and will not be eligible for overtime pay.
Peak Work Time Requirements
Position typically requires 40 - 45 hours a week. Peak work times include August through December, when 45-50 hours a week is typical.
Working Conditions
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment.
Scope of Accountability
No supervisory responsibility.
- Owns small project, technology or common shareable feature across several projects
- Builds team consent and buy-in and influences team to achieve project goals
- Collects and uses application performance metrics
- Negotiates development processes, metrics and targets
- Authors, reviews and approves requirements and designs for a domain
- Engineers extensible solutions mindful of team
- Writes quality code mindful of product. systems and technology
- Fixes complex bugs
- Creates extensible, shareable code
- Adheres to security by design principles and guidance
- Defines and implements optimizations
- Devises new algorithms and data structures for target environments and platform attributes
- Finds and implements strategic data structures and algorithms within product, system and technology for significant performance improvement
- On board new team members
- Provides regular and detailed feedback to peers in code review process
- Actively shares knowledge through peer mentoring, shared resources and informal teaching
- Contributes and enforces best practices Implements secure, scalable, resilient, maintainable, and testable cloud solutions and services.
- Applies department standards for design and code and conducts walkthroughs.
- Applies department standards for coding practices to required Information Security requirements.
- Reviews requirements and prepares project estimates.
- Serves as a source of information and attends project meetings to provide technical perspective.
- Uses software development and unit testing tools.
- Maintains high standards by adhering to and participating in code reviews.
- Applies problem solving skills within the scope of the entire project.
- Provides project status reports to project management.
- Provides technical support during busy season.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent level of education and experience
- 3 or more years of Software Development experience
- Was responsible for a project or technology at previous employment
