Summary of Position:

The Asset Development Engineer IV will assume a pivotal role in strategizing, executing, and optimizing oil and gas asset development initiatives. This position carries a profound responsibility for driving optimal economic outcomes and meticulously crafting asset development timelines. Leveraging their seasoned expertise, the Asset Development Engineer IV will make invaluable contributions to the extraction of hydrocarbon resources, thereby safeguarding the long-term sustainability and prosperity of our operational endeavors.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead the construction of a robust, multi-year inventory, aligning with optimal economic strategies and establishing comprehensive activity plans and contingency measures.
  • Support and execute the site selection to release-to-drill well planning process, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements and proactively proposing alternatives to address potential obstacles.
  • Collaboratively generate Pre-Spud and D&C Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documents by gathering input from various cross-functional departments, using a streamlined workflow process and leveraging the Execute platform.
  • Lead weekly meetings to review the current and near-term schedule, address any obstacles and risks to the schedule, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders on simops, permits, and land issues
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure all updates are incorporated into the planning model and explore opportunities to optimize the schedule and plan
  • Assist in managing post-appraisal process. Engage in cross-functional collaboration with Subsurface, Drilling, Completions, Facilities, and Production teams. This involves synthesizing lessons learned from past projects and seamlessly integrating them into current operations.
  • Utilize and optimize existing subscriptions and applications to conduct competitor analysis, thereby informing strategic decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with the Land team to refine development plans and ensure executability of the schedule.
  • Follow safe operating practices and ensure compliance with CIVI Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.
  • Assure work performed adheres to CIVI standards.
  • Assist other teams within the Asset Development organization as required.
  • Attend onsite field meetings as necessary.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related Engineering degree. Masters degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience of relevant oil and gas experience with an emphasis on asset development and driving and executing project development.
  • Recent Permian Basin experience preferred
  • History of leading and driving collaboration with a large multi-functioning team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 360 products (Outlook, Excel, Word).


Travel Requirements:
  • Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Monday and Friday.
  • Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
  • Travel required to the Civitas field locations.

Base Pay Range: $180,000 - $195,000
