Leads the management and operation of the Information Systems within a multi-program facility with various levels of data classification and security requirements divided into multiple areas. Serves as the manager responsible for computational services planning, resource, policy, and standards development for the entire enterprise infrastructure. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as lead computer Information Technology Manager responsible for supporting over 130+ Macs, 200+ Linux systems distributed throughout the organization as well as the connections with the High-Performance Computing systems. Screens, analyzes, and defines requirements for the organization's computer-based systems, as well as infrastructure and facilities which provide world-class computing resources to a community of scientists and engineers engaged in specialized Research & Development technology advancement. Evaluates evolving hardware and software technology, scientific visualization, high-performance storage, and high-speed local/wide area networking. Prepares, coordinates, and implements policy and procedures for hardware and software applications. Develops comprehensive instruction for operation of system components. As the lead of the computational facility/environment within the Design and Analysis branch overseeing various computer operating systems the duties include but are not limited to:
Develop configuration policies, test and document findings, update and effectively communicate procedures.
Actively create documentation for downstream support teams as well as train Desktop Support on new processes
Keep up with the Apple and Jamf communities and use the information to improve the Apple/Mac device management across the enterprise.
Plan and implement macOS upgrades and rollout.
Establish and enforce a standard Mac provisioning process to ensure a uniform and secure device fleet.
Perform well-organized and timely deployments of applications, major upgrades, security updates, and patches.
Drive client security, and best practices in an enterprise environment.
Work as the escalation point between different support teams for issues related to macOS.
Diagnose and investigate unique and complex systemic problems.
Command line packaging in JAMF Composer or other macOS/Apple packaging tools as required.
Drive automation via Jamf and/or scripting.

Required Qualifications
CompTIA Security+ certification
macOS Administrator (Jamf Pro administrator) experience
Linux Administrator experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
US Citizenship.
Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
Males must be registered for Selective Service.

CompTIA Security+ certification

Linux Administrator experience
Customer focus, flexible and willing to take ownership of issues and projects.
Ability to manage complex technical challenges across multiple organizations and stakeholders.

Knowledge in Microsoft and macOS business applications
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to identify, research, and resolve simple to complex technical support issues independently.
Knowledge of the customary approaches, techniques, and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization;
Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; and
Adaptation of guidelines or precedents to the needs of the assignment.
Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management
