SCHEDULE
40 hours per week
Primarily day shifts but will have 24/7 accountability for program management and the delivery of quality care
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
8NE is a 20-bed inpatient floor for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplants and immunotherapy. We frequently work with patients receiving blood and marrow transplants, including those dealing with complications before, during and after the process. This position will also oversee an 8-room outpatient oncology clinic. The outpatient oncology clinic is led by a team of Advanced Practice Providers and provides care for established patients needing timely medical attention for acute symptoms related to their oncologic diagnosis and treatment. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a dedicated nursing team that always puts their patients first.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Manage day-to-day operations
Oversee 75 employees, including Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and a Patient Services Supervisor
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center to ensure program priorities, performance and outcome measures, and regulatory requirements are met
RESPONSIBILITIES
Interview and hire new employees; conduct performance evaluations; counsel employees and develop employee skillsets
Ensure that 8NE operates in a cost-effective manner for UW Medicine
Oversee quality assurance and safety standards
Ensures that 8NE meets regulatory standards (e.g. JCAHO, DOH), including environment of care standards and infection control
Act as an expert clinical resource when staff encounter problems or questions
Ensure that evidence-based nursing practice is integrated into department operations
Model customer service standards for staff and practitioners
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Masters Degree in Nursing. Equivalent education and experience may substitute for this requirement.
2 years of management or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
An active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
Previous oncology nursing experience
Knowledge of The Joint Commission, DOH, and other regulatory agency standards
