Description:

Tesla is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Autopilot and Electronics Product Design team. The Engineer will lead the mechanical design of sensors for Tesla Bot.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define sensor product requirements and develop implementations
  • Prototype development for new sensing technologies and applications
  • Run validation tests and perform data analysis for sensors
  • Develop designs in CAD for both detailed parts and assemblies
  • Perform tolerance analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other simulations and analyses before releasing designs for production
  • Create 2D drawings appropriate for production and inspection methods
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with suppliers and support tooling bring up


Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Passionate about electro-mechanical product design, inventing solutions, and finding better and simpler ways to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy
  • Knowledge of design of plastic injection molded, sheet metal stamping and cast parts
  • Experience in drafting 2D drawings with GD&T
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python or other modeling tools
  • Proficiency in data visualization and statistical analysis
  • Ability to perform first-principles analysis to ensure a successful design (physics, stress-strain, thermal, tolerance, cost and mass optimization, etc.)
  • Experience with FEA, ANSYS preferred

    • Expected Compensation$80,000 - $300,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
