Description:
The used vehicle manager leads the used vehicle department, including management of inventory, pricing, merchandising and reconditioning process in partnership with the service team. The role is responsible for selecting, coaching, training and retaining the very best sales associates and driving a high level of performance in terms of appraisals, achievement of targeted used vehicles unit sales and profit margins while delighting every guest.
The position interacts daily with guests, dealership management, sales associates, service advisors, technicians, F&I mgr and other support staff. Position reports to pre-owned director, by case, GSM and GM.
Day to day responsibilities include:
-leading yourself and your team in a way that supports Johnson Automotive vision and culture.
-ensuring effective inventory mix and pricing to market. Move inventory among Johnson Automotive locations to maximize retail opportunities.
-driving effective merchandising of vehicles including all Johnson Automotive points of purchase materials.
-partnering with the service department in the reconditioning process of inventory vehicles.
-setting a clear vision and goals for the sales associates in order to achieve targeted performance in used vehicle sales and profit, on a monthly basis.
-engaging and motivating the sales associates to achieve key goals, performance expectations and Johnson Automotive best practice processes.
-Driving the business through a high level of personal involvement in day-to-day operations.
-make 20 calls and write 20 emails daily. Calls will be made using the Click-to-Call feature available in the CRM.
-appraising vehicles for trade as well as a daily review of all appraisals performed in the dealership.
-managing all three areas of customer traffic: showroom, internet and phone.
-managing controllable expense elements for the Used Vehicle Department.
-analyzing the business to identify any shortfalls and develop action plans to improve.
-partnering with the Used Vehicle Director to optimize inventory and retail opportunities.
The performance of a Used Vehicle Manager is measured by:
-targeted unit sales and gross profit
-targeted speed to market
-targeted trade appraisals and retention
-targeted sales associate retention
-targeted CSI
The opportunities for career advancement follow a track record of success with this role and may include General Sales Manager and General Manager positions
