Azure Data Integration Solution Architect

Position: Azure Data Integration Solution Architect
Location: Canada (ideally GTA) - works remotely
Duration: Starts as a 3-month contract - likely to extend

An Azure Data Integration Solution Architect is responsible for working with clients in designing, developing, and deploying end-to-end data integration solutions using Azure data and integration technologies, such as Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL DB, Azure Data Lake, Azure Cosmos DB and Azure Synapse Analytics. Your role involves collaborating with stakeholders, understanding business requirements, and architecting scalable, efficient, and secure data integration solutions on the Azure platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Solution Design: Design and architect data integration solutions on Azure, considering scalability, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and Azure data integration standards.
• Requirement Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data integration requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and propose appropriate architectures and designs.
• Azure Services Utilization: Leverage Azure data and integration services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid for building robust integration pipelines and data stores.
• Data Modeling: Design data models and schemas for efficient data storage, transformation, and retrieval within Azure environments.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and implement optimizations to enhance data integration pipeline performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Security and Compliance: Implement security measures, encryption, and compliance standards to ensure data protection and regulatory adherence.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Establish monitoring frameworks and troubleshoot data integration issues to ensure system stability and reliability.

Must have qualifications

• Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Solution Architecting Experience: Proven experience (3+ years) working as a Data and/or Integration Architect or similar role, with a focus on Azure-based solutions.
• Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of experience leading and managing a project implementation/deployment team, demonstrating effective team guidance, mentorship, and leading integration initiatives.
• Technical Mastery:
  • A strong knowledge of Azure data integration tools and technologies, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid.
  • A solid understanding of data integration patterns, principles, and best practices, such as ETL, ELT, data quality, data lineage, data catalog, etc.
  • A proficiency in SQL, Python, Scala, or other programming languages for data manipulation and analysis.
• Client Engagement Experience: Proven track record in client-facing roles, adept at understanding and fulfilling client needs and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Exceptional Communication Ability: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, vital for articulating design concepts and making presentations.
• Data Governance: Excellent understanding of security, compliance, and data governance principles in Azure environments.
