Summary of Position

Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network (PCN) is a group of family physicians and health care professionals in northwest Calgary and Cochrane collaborating with Alberta Health Services - Calgary Zone to deliver the best possible primary care. Calgary Foothills PCN has established a team environment where individuals are encouraged to take initiative, be creative and contribute to ongoing decision-making.

The Senior Consultant reports to the Associate Executive Director and is responsible for the efficient operation of a variety of health projects. This role is responsible for championing projects within the PCN including creating project plans, meeting with stakeholders and assessing progress to stay on schedule and on budget. The job also involves frequent communication with a variety of stakeholders to facilitate meaningful partnerships. The key purpose of this role is to effectively implement projects within the PCN and steward partnerships with community and health agencies to provide the highest quality of care for patients.

Key Responsibilities

Key aspects of the position may include, but are not limited to:
  • Act as a project manager for assigned priority health projects, ensuring timely and effective execution in alignment with strategic priorities
  • Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of a variety of health projects in collaboration with community partners and stakeholders
  • Monitor and report progress of projects, addressing challenges, risks and mitigations
  • Develop and lead the implementation of sustainable policies and procedures for assigned projects
  • Assist in developing evaluation and quality improvement methodologies to measure and enhance project outcomes
  • Maintain regular communication with key stakeholders, including community partners, physicians, health team members and other internal departments to ensure alignment and collaboration
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to identify gaps, opportunities and synergies and build capacity for successful project implementation
  • Communicate complex information clearly and concisely, in both verbal (i.e., day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written formats (i.e. project charter, timelines)
  • Prepare reports, presentations and documents to support project milestones and decision making
  • Other responsibilities as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects utilizing excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Understanding of program design, implementation and evaluation methodologies
  • Outcome-driven, utilizing well-developed problem solving, conflict resolution, facilitation and customer service skills
  • Knowledge and experience in project and change management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to the audience and desired results
  • Proven computer skills including working with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work well independently and take initiative
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discrete and professional manner

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in project management, health care management, business administration or related healthcare field required
  • Certification in project management, change leadership, quality improvement (AIW, Lean, Six Sigma) and/or human-centered design considered an asset
  • Minimum five years' experience in project management, quality improvement, knowledge management or research in an organization of significant size and diversity is preferred
  • Experience in primary health care is preferred
