The Opportunity: The Offshore Wind Rock Foundation Design Engineer

The position is based at GLDD Headquarters, in Houston.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design review for localized rock and soil parameters to fine tune potential design for client.
  • Review Client rockberm designs and look for opportunities to optimize.
  • Ability to enter geotechnical information into our GIS system for analysis of preplacement conditions.
  • Ability to track/review lab tests of rock samples and compare against Client requirements.
  • Assess losses and settlement of installed rock, based on rock grading, soils, and environmental conditions.
  • You will work closely with other engineers, geologists, estimators, and contractors to ensure the quality and safety of the designs.

Requirements:
  • A master's degree in coastal engineering, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in coastal engineering, with a focus on underwater rock foundation design and geotechnical engineering.
  • Proficient in using software tools for coastal engineering, such as MIKE, Delft3D, or Plaxis.
  • Knowledge of coastal processes, hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and wave-structure interaction.
  • Ability to perform field investigations, site inspections, and laboratory tests.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Travel to project sites as needed.
