Job Description
The Animal Care Administrator will work under the direction of the Animal Care Assistant Director for Public Health to oversee administrative and operational functions related to animal care. The role will involve managing the housing and care of incoming stray and unwanted animals, adoptions, public education, citizen complaints and issues, recovery of owned animals, and spray/neuter programs. Will be responsible for animal regulatory and enforcement services; managing administrative operations and budgets, coordinating rescue initiatives, conducting grant writing, and providing oversight for kennel and veterinary technician operations.

- Assists the Assistant Director of Animal Care Services with the administrative and operations of the animal care services by day-to-day operations. Coordinates with departmental staff to ensure smooth functioning of animal care services and develops, implements, and updates policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Supports the fiscal management and budgeting processes by developing and monitoring the budgets for animal care services in accordance with departmental guidelines. Reviews expenditures and financial transactions to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and identifies cost-saving opportunities to optimize resource allocation.
- Researches funding opportunities and prepares grant proposals to support animal care programs.
- Maintains accurate records of grant applications, awards, and expenditures and explores fundraising initiatives and partnerships to supplement financial resources in accordance with City guidelines
- Collaborates with animal rescue organizations and community partners to facilitate animal rescue efforts. Develops and implements strategies to increase adoption rates and reduce euthanasia rates. Coordinates transportation and placement of rescued animals in suitable homes or shelters.
- Provides supervision and guidance to kennel staff, veterinary technicians, administrative support staff, and field officers.
- Ensures compliance with animal care protocols, sanitation standards, and safety regulations.
- Conducts training sessions and performance evaluations to enhance staff competency.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
