Description:
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is responsible for leading the strategic development and management of the human resources function within the organization. This role focuses on creating and maintaining HR policies, overseeing compensation and benefits, managing employee performance and relations, and ensuring compliance with legal standards and best practices. The Chief HR&PO will play a critical role in enhancing the organization's culture, increasing employee retention, and supporting overall employee satisfaction. This individual will work closely with the CEO, Vice President, and other leadership team members to ensure that HR initiatives align with CISPA's mission and goals.

Job Duties
Strategic HR Leadership:
- Develop and oversee the organization's HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal standards and best practices.
- Lead the strategic planning and implementation of HR initiatives that align with CISPA's mission and goals.
- Manage and maintain employee files, including new hire paperwork, clearances, mandated reporter training certificates, and discipline records.
- Communicate HR policy changes, news, and resources in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications.
- Manage CISPA's insurance and worker's compensation policies and requests.
- Serve as liaison to CISPA's managed IT provider; oversee technology/property, device leases, and technological problems.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Negotiate and administer benefits, including medical benefits, retirement accounts, employee wellness plans, and COBRA.
- Communicate benefit opportunities and reminders to staff; share resources about available benefits when appropriate.
- Monitor compensation through annual salary studies to ensure CISPA's salary bands remain competitive and in alignment with industry standards.
- Assist the Accounting Coordinator with payroll processing bi-weekly, ensuring the accuracy of payroll reports.
Employee Performance & Relations:
- Oversee coordination and implementation of annual performance reviews.
- Investigate employee relations issues to ensure that human resource-related decisions are consistent and fair.
- Process employee grievances and perform investigations when needed.
- Serve as a fair and neutral party that can navigate difficult conversations with tact, diplomacy, and brevity.
- Assess the organization's culture and leverage best practices and industry-specific research to assist CISPA in improving culture and increasing employee retention, engagement, and satisfaction.
Administration:
- Serve as the agency's primary point of contact on administrative matters.
- Oversee property and device leases and agreements.
- Serve as employees' main point of contact for software, equipment, and supply needs.
- Manage, configure, and oversee the agency's phone system, Office 365 account, and master records.
Required Qualification & Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience leading human resources administration and management within the nonprofit sector.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills with the demonstrated ability to persuasively promote ideas to various stakeholders.
- Excellent people skills with the demonstrated ability to partner with all levels of CISPA staff, including school-based staff members, administrative team members, and leadership/executive team members.
- Experience supervising and developing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work within a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to receive and act on feedback provided by colleagues and supervisors.
- Knowledge of nonprofit budgeting, nonprofit management and best practices, and nonprofit organizational administration.
- Demonstrated ability to work creatively.
