The primary role of the position is to manage the Process Safety Program for Major Projects and to provide senior-level consulting services in the area of Process Safety, including Technical Safety and Process Safety Management (PSM/SEMS).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage workload, budgets and resources for the Process Safety Program for selected major clients and projects.
Lead and manage teams to meet schedule and budget for Process Safety deliverables for Major Projects.
When needed,facilitate/lead Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) meetings, including HAZOP/ LOPA studies and produce high-quality preparation and reporting documentation.
Provide consulting services to clients and project teams to help them plan project Process Safety activities and deliverables to meet regulatory requirements.
Analyze engineering documents to identify safety hazards and mitigate them.
Travel and work at customers' site upon their request, including field inspections as needed.
Lead business development for Process Safety at major clients.
When needed, provide PSM/RMP Compliance Auditing and Gap Analysis for Major Projects and Clients.
Provide safety engineering advice for quantified risk assessments, assessment of safety instrumented systems, alarm management, preliminary risk assessment, Facility Siting, Fire Protection Systems, etc.
Develop estimates and proposals for Process Safety Group, and provide input to Major Project proposals.
Actively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or incidents to your supervisor.
Set realistic expectations and ensure that projects assigned to team members are completed according to schedule and within budget.
Interact and communicate effectively with team members, clients, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants.
Perform checking, or assign the appropriate checker, of engineering drawings and mathematical calculations produced by team members.
Responsible for ensuring the overall quality and technical accuracy associated with deliverables produced by all team members.
Oversee adherence to safe design practices, while focusing on identifying cost saving opportunities.
Ability to support and manage and implement the project design hazard management plan.
Ability to support and manage the major hazard register
Identify and complete the detailed design of all safety and environmental critical elements
Develop performance standards for SCE/ECE
Create and update bow tie diagrams for major hazards
Knowledge of industry standard fire protection requirements for Offshore Installations
Ability to define, check, manage, and oversee delivery of third party contractors in development of QRA, DORA, ESSA, EERA, FERA, CFD Studies, and similar studies.
Manage bow tie barrier degradation arising from an NCR, Deviation, concession, or other source.
Implement the process safety study program as defined in the DHMP.
Verify and demonstrate that performance standards are met through all stages
Prepare and implement a SCE/ECS design verification plan.
Develop the operations case for safety.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required
- Bachelor's Degree from ABET Accredited Institution preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Fire Protection Safety Engineering preferred
- Working knowledge of codes (API, etc.), Process Safety Regulations and PHA Software required.
- 20 years minimum industry experience preferred, including significant PHA experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing, including public speaking to groups of up to 30 professionals
- Ability to lead teams to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal
- Ability to lead teams to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work related problems
- Ability to provide instruction and clarification to team members
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification preferred
