Position Type/Hours:
Full-time position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for the leadership, growth and development of assigned Design Engineers. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the design team delivers high-quality products that meets the customers' needs and is critical to ensuring all functions are aligned as the engineers complete the design. This includes closely partnering with the Technology, Assembly, and Service functions and other internal stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met and work is completed on time. This position effectively manages critical cross functional interfaces, communications, and clarity on expectations.

Essential Functions:
- Lead operational Design Engineering team that works with project coordinators to design the machine layout, machine parts, pneumatic layout, quote integrated equipment and support the Assembly function.
- Establish goals and objectives for each engineer and monitor progress towards the goals.
- Ensure engineers understand the customer requirements, have a high sense of customer service and on time requirements.
- Ensure design standards and drawings are utilized.
- Familiar with design industry standards, regulations (CSA, ATEX, ISO 13485, etc.), and company policies.
- Implement and refine design processes to improve quality and efficiency.
- Keep up to date with the latest design tools, industry trends, and have a working knowledge of design regulations and compliance.
- Identify projects that require advanced design resources and ensure the design meets the functional and budgetary requirements.
- Act as a primary point of contact between the design team and other stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with the R&D, production, maintenance, project management and quality functions
- Demonstrate effective change leadership.
- Mentor and develop direct reports by providing challenging and engaging activities that promote career growth as well as identifying opportunities for training and development.
- Provide consistent feedback to all engineering staff for performance improvement, positive reinforcement, and development.
- Provide technical resources and support to engineering staff as needed.
- Represent engineering on cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with People & Culture and Operations to recruit and onboard additional engineering staff as needed.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5 years of management experience leading engineering teams.
- Experience and knowledge of custom automated commercial equipment.
- Experience in managing budgets and resources for engineering projects.
