GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
At the Wyoming Attorney General's Office, we strive to provide quality legal services to state agencies to effect better outcomes for Wyoming citizens. Attorneys in our office have the opportunity to develop their legal skills in a collaborative environment while doing interesting and meaningful work and maintaining a work-life balance.
The Wyoming Attorney General's Office seeks a qualified applicant interested in serving as an attorney to provide professional legal representation to the Department of Family Services. This position will include representation of the Agency in appeals to the Wyoming Supreme Court. This position also includes litigation in termination of parental rights cases, guardianships, administrative contested case matters, and subpoenas. The attorney will also advise the Department of Family Services on legal matters on a day-to-day basis, review administrative rules and regulations, and other duties as assigned. In addition to the above, this attorney position will take the lead in advising the Department of Family Services related to juvenile justice programs.
This position provides an immediate opportunity to handle complex issues present in child welfare law practice and provides for regular appearances in district court and the Wyoming Supreme Court. This position provides an opportunity to develop and utilize legal writing, oral advocacy skills, civil litigation skills, and client counseling skills.
The Attorney General's office provides attorneys an opportunity to receive mentorship, develop expertise, and excel at and utilize skills in a dynamic and collegial work environment. Our office also offers monthly in-house training opportunities that qualify for continuing legal education credit.
