Job Summary: The purpose of the Adolescent Operations Manager (AOM) is to provide additional assistance to the clinical nurse manager (CNM). This position works with the Clinical Manager to provide quality nursing care to the adolescent population and participates in managing the operations of the adolescent program. Collaborates and supports all Nursing Practice / Quality and Patient Safety Initiatives with the Clinical Nurse Manager. Covers the Clinical Nurse Manager in their absence.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Vermont,
  • Master's Degree preferred, Bachelors required or applicable experienced and education can be substituted.
  • Minimum three years of experience in psychiatric nursing, and/or management or an equivalent combination of related experience.
  • Certification through the ANA preferred.


  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Establishes and achieves goals and objectives for the department consistent with organizational goals.

    Assures a workplace environment and culture that optimizes patient care and patient safety to reduce the likelihood of health care errors.

    Promotes and encourages a workplace environment that embraces a customer service philosophy in interactions with all patients, visitors, staff and vendors.

    Demonstrates a professionalism that is committed to Retreat mission and core values.

    Completes tasks delegated by the CNM.

    Fosters a teamwork approach when problem solving.

    Effectively motivates, praises and educates staff as appropriate. Helps contribute to performance improvement plans for staff when necessary

    Ensures appropriate staffing levels with competent, team-oriented employees.

    Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring, recognition, and feedback to all staff.

    Plans, develops, and implements staff development activities for unit staff.

    Provides education to staff on performance improvement plans and patient safety initiatives.

    Ensures that staff is competent and up to date with required mandatories.

    Responsible for effectively supporting, championing, and communicating strategic organizational initiatives tostaff, particularly in the area of quality service and patient safety.

    Demonstrates an ability to lead cultural change for staff.

    Maintains performance improvement activities for department/unit and collaborates as necessary with hospital leadership in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising and monitoring performance improvement

    activities.

    Maintains nursing skills by participating in patient care episodically.

    Identifies, collects, and reports relevant statistical data to reflect the activities of the department and staff.

    Establishes and maintains policies, procedures and documentation standards for the department.

    Follows all organizational policies and procedures outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual of the

    Retreat.

    Assists Clinical Manager in developing and implementing Operating Plans and budget for department/unit.

    Assists in establishing and achieving goals and objectives for the department consistent with organizational goals.

    Day shift.
    40 hours.
