Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief Compliance and Integration officer, the Manager of Compliance and Business Ethics assists with all efforts related to healthcare compliance, privacy and the daily application of the Sinai Health System Compliance and Business Work Plan. This position will play a role in identifying, investigating and resolving healthcare compliance issues, privacy incidents, and will assist the Chief Compliance and Integration Officer with training efforts, drafting policies, and other projects.

Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief Compliance and Integration officer, the Manager of Compliance and Business Ethics assists with all efforts related to healthcare compliance, privacy and the daily application of the Sinai Health System Compliance and Business Work Plan. This position will play a role in identifying, investigating and resolving healthcare compliance issues, privacy incidents, and will assist the Chief Compliance and Integration Officer with training efforts, drafting policies, and other projects.
Key Job Activities:
- Collaborates with other departments (Legal, Health Information Management, Information Technology, etc.) to direct compliance issues and privacy concerns to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
- Develop, coordinate and participate in a multifaceted educational and training program with focus on the 7 elements of an effective compliance program, ensuring that all caregivers are knowledgeable of and comply with Sinai's policies, and applicable federal and state standards.
- Develops and completes periodic risk assessments to identify compliance and privacy compliance risks.
- Continue campaign to heighten awareness of the compliance office function, as well to disseminate information and collect employee feedback.
- Draft, review and revise policies related to the Compliance and Business Ethics Department.
- Conduct site/department walkthroughs/visual inspections to identify risks and deficiencies as part of routine auditing practices.
- Conducts internal monitoring and auditing activities, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
- BACHELORS / UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE
- 2-3 years of industry-related experience in healthcare compliance/privacy, regulatory/accreditation, internal audit, operations, quality, or applicable healthcare experience.
- Experience working with federal and state laws and regulations concerning HIPAA, Privacy and Security.
- Manage verification process on caregivers against OIG Sanction List and other governmental databases.
- Communicate or assist in communication with regulatory agencies regarding inquiries, investigations and alleged violation resolutions.
- Conduct investigations, track progress, and consult as needed related to compliance investigation matters to Human Resources, Managers, and Legal.
- Manage the Business and Ethics Compliance Hotline and Email.
- Facilitate and participate in the Compliance and Business Ethics Committee, Audit and Compliance Committee, and HIPAA Security Task Force. Record minutes and provide periodic compliance reports to the committees.

Certifications/Licenses:
- Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or Certified Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) preferred or must be obtained within 12 months from date of hire.
