The Opportunity
We are currently looking for an experienced Social Worker to cover a maternity leave on a full-time basis, starting November 25, 2024 and ending January 9, 2026.
Working as a member of the school's Student Services Department, you will report to the Dean of Students and work closely with two part-time Social Workers, Guidance Counsellors, the School Nurse, the Academic Leadership Team and Teachers in support of students' social and emotional needs. Responsibilities will be carried out according to school policy, regulations legislated by the Social Work and Social Service Work Act, The Child and Family Services Act, Education Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Mental Health Act as well as directed by the Principal. Duties encompass the following general areas: Attending to social and emotional support of students through individual and group sessions; developing, implementing and delivering both curricular and co-curricular programs relevant to the social and emotional wellbeing of students; acting as a resource to teachers and parents with respect to students' social and emotional needs and integrating best practice into the school's co-curricular initiatives.

If you are that person, you will be in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers, and have:
- Completed a Master of Social Work (MSW)
- Demonstrated experience advising and developing programs with students and teachers in a middle or high school environment.
- Superior interpersonal and organisational skills with high attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times;
- Well-developed analytical and planning skills, and ability to prioritise tasks in order to operate independently and effectively in a high-pressure complex school environment;
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and demonstrated initiative, creativity, and proven ability as a strategic thinker;
- Ability to exercise judgement and diplomacy, relate to all stakeholders, and work collaboratively with staff, faculty, students and parents;
- Proficiency in MS office applications (Word/Excel),Google Suite
- Strong research, writing and presentation skills.
