We are a new, rapidly growing, locally owned, ECC hospital in North Seattle and we are looking to add additional emergency veterinarians to our team of emergency and critical care specialists and experienced emergency veterinarians. We have an amazing staff of experienced technicians, assistants, and client care representatives to support you in providing exceptional care.

Job Description:
TVES Emergency Veterinarians lead the ER team in providing exceptional patient care for dogs, cats and small exotic pets, and contribute to our culture of employee engagement and ownership. Exceptional patient care involves partnership and communication with clients and primary care veterinarians as well as providing evidence based, cost effective, compassionate, and timely care.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide, direct, and oversee patient medical care. This includes:
- Working with staff to triage incoming primary and referral cases
- Determining client concerns and obtaining complete medical histories
- Receiving and assessing patients and performing complete physical examinations
- Developing a problem list, differential diagnostic list, diagnostic and treatment plan
- Performing common emergency surgeries when indicated including laceration repairs, enucleations, gastrotomies, enterotomies, resection and anastomosis, gastropexies, and splenectomies
- Communicate accurately and clearly with clients about diagnostics, treatments and costs associated with patient care
- Complete accurate medical records in SOAP format with treatment plans on all animals seen before leaving at the end of the shift
- Communicate at least once per shift with clients who have animals in the hospital - this includes updating financial estimates and deposits DAILY
- Answer questions about cases and case transfers promptly from primary care veterinarians
- Update the incoming veterinarian in a clear and accurate manner about cases and their status
- Follow medical codes of ethics, rules of the employee handbook, and laws related to veterinary medical care
- Report safety concerns, adverse events, and unanticipated patient outcomes to TVES owners and clients promptly and accurately
- Collaborate with other veterinarians in the practice to provide seamless care and an atmosphere of continuous learning
- Participate in mandatory doctor and all staff meetings
- Participate when requested in the review process for other doctors and staff
- Participate in visits to primary care veterinarians to build community and awareness of our service
- Participate in ongoing continuing education

Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- DVM or VMD degree from accredited veterinary college
- Internship or 2 years of experience in emergency and critical care medicine
- Comfort with common emergency surgeries including laceration repair, gastrotomies, enterotomies, splenectomies, and gastropexies or eagerness to learn and perform these procedures
- Valid Washington state veterinary license
Schedule, Compensation, and Benefits
- Full time is 11 - 12 hour shifts per 4 week block. We provide a shift base and pay production quarterly.
