What You Will Be Doing

The Director of Continuing Education serves as the leader for the Life Long Learning Program and auxiliary programs connected to providing continuing education opportunities for HIPsters. This person actively participates in making strategic decisions affecting My Possibilities, in partnership with the Chief Program Officer. The Director of Continuing Education is responsible for establishing a strategic vision and guiding philosophy that will inform short- and long-term programming goals and carefully monitor the progress toward those efforts. The Director of Continuing Education will be responsible for developing and monitoring department budgets and providing mentoring and guidance to program managers managing budgets.

Essential Functions

Leadership:
  • Work with other members of the leadership team to advance MP's mission, vision, and values, and support strategic goals set by the executive team.
  • Create and support a high-performance culture in the departments they oversee.
  • Develop a team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively toward achieving our goals by clearly communicating our vision, implementing staff development plans, mentoring and developing future leaders.

Programs and Outcomes:
  • Oversee the coordination, integration, and delivery of the programs they lead, and promote collaborative relationships between program areas.
  • Ensure the implementation of high-quality educational programming as set through collaboration with the Curriculum Manager and Chief Program Officer.
  • Ensure the implementation of policies and procedures aligning service delivery with the requirements of state licensing, government contracts, and grants requirements.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the programs they lead.
  • Maintain records and documentation for the programs the director oversees.
  • Support managers with employee relations concerns.
  • Analyze and assess program budgets based on data collected and implement corrective measures if required.
  • Manage budgets of the programs they oversee to ensure appropriate allocation of program funding.

Qualifications
  • At least three years of leadership experience in a nonprofit or other environment serving individuals with intellectual disabilities and overseeing program implementation.
  • Passion for MP's mission and purpose and an ability to communicate this passion to others
  • Demonstrated experience managing a high-performing team, including professional development and mentorship
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of program planning, organizational structure, budgeting, and administrative operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and data for planning and reporting purposes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to represent the organization externally across a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is required
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion; experience implementing the principles in program areas and creating an inclusive work environment


Working Conditions

Work is primarily indoors. You may encounter work interruptions; you will get to work cooperatively with others and independently with minimal direction and supervision. You must understand, interpret, and apply information at a moderately complex level which is essential for successful job performance. Regularly you will calculate simple math skills at a high school proficiency level. You will need to rank tasks in order of importance. Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged sitting. Minimally must lift 15 pounds without assistance; may lift over 20 pounds with or without assistance. All potential employees must pass a background check and drug screen.
