Position Summary:
The Director of Facilities Support is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing repair and maintenance operations of 1,500 store locations in over 25 states. Supported by a team of facilities managers, field service supervisors, field technicians, a parts warehouse, and an equipment repair shop, the director ensures efficient and effective field service activities & vendor management. The role focuses on team leadership, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, technological integration, safety compliance, and strategic growth of internal services. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and mentor maintenance managers, field technicians, warehouse staff, and repair shop personnel.
2. Identify cost saving opportunities and manage in-house field service team expansion into new trades, services, or market areas.
3. Design and implement comprehensive training programs covering technical, safety, customer service, and the use of field service technology.
4. Oversee maintenance, repair, and support of all company locations, ensuring timely and high-quality service.
5. Coordinate with dispatch and administrative service team to ensure effective communication, scheduling, and dispatch of service requests.
6. Integrate or replace software applications to enhance technician productivity, vendor performance, and asset collection & management, using best practices to drive technological integration and efficiency.
7. Oversee procurement and vendor management for outsourced services, parts, and supplies.
8. Develop and manage department budgets, monitor financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource allocation.
9. Manage parts and refurb shop operations, ensuring inventory is efficiently maintained.
10. Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal customers, using feedback to drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
11. Ensure all team members maintain necessary certifications and licenses and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
12. Develop and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment including regular safety audits.
Working Relationships: The Facilities Director will need to communicate effectively with all members of management within Facilities Support teams, Construction, IT, HR, Marketing, Training, and other departments in the support of facilities support and other departments projects and initiatives.
Requirements:
Minimum Education: Associate degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Experience: Proven experience facilities & field service management or similar leadership role. Proficiency with facilities software applications, budget development, and inventory management
Preferred Experience: Certification in relevant fields or professional organizations.
Licenses/Certifications:
Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Organizational and operational planning abilities.
Other:
Driving/Fleet Vehicle Requirement: Approval to drive company vehicle required.
Travel: 20% travel. Approval to drive company vehicle required.
Physical:
Hours & Conditions: 45+ hour work week with the ability to respond to emergencies in a 24 hour 365 day environment. Standard work schedule of 8:00am -4:30 pm M-F, with weekend work as required to meet the needs of the department.
