Objectives of this Role:
We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Credit Underwriting Management to join our team. As a community bank located in St. Louis, Missouri, we have a strong focus on supporting and investing in our community. This position plays a critical role in overseeing the commercial credit underwriting process and ensuring effective workflow management between the credit department and commercial lenders. The Vice President will lead a team of analysts, ensuring efficient resource allocation, high-quality work products, and ongoing team development. The role requires close collaboration with relationship managers and stakeholders to accurately evaluate and structure loan requests in alignment with prudent underwriting standards.

Essential Functions
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and mentor a team of credit analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Ensure efficient allocation of resources and workload management within the team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional growth opportunities.
- Promote and facilitate continuous learning and development for team members.
Credit Underwriting and Approval:
- Oversee the underwriting of credit approval requests for both prospective and existing clients.
- Ensure that all credit assessments are thorough, accurate, and comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve credit recommendations, providing guidance on complex loan structures and risk assessments.
Workflow Management:
- Facilitate effective communication and workflow between the credit department and commercial lenders.
- Implement and maintain processes to streamline credit underwriting and approval procedures.
- Monitor and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of commercial credit operations.
Collaboration and Relationship Management:
- Work closely with relationship managers to evaluate and structure loan requests.
- Assist in the development of lending strategies and solutions that meet client needs while adhering to prudent underwriting standards.
- Participate in client meetings and discussions as needed to provide credit expertise.
Quality Control and Risk Management:
- Ensure the consistent quality and accuracy of credit proposals.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate credit risks through rigorous analysis and review.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in credit underwriting.

Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related Field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 7 years of commercial banking experience
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- In-depth knowledge of credit risk assessment, loan structuring, and regulatory requirements for commercial credit requests.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
