TITLE: SENIOR PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST

LOCATION: ASHBURN, VA

POSITION SUMMMARY: As a Senior Procurement Specialist, you will be a key player in the successful delivery of data center construction projects. You will be required to support the end-to-end procurement process on a project specific basis, including requirements definition, risk assessments, sourcing, purchasing, shipping, and tracking for critical power infrastructure, critical cooling infrastructure, and more. You will work closely with vendors, contractors, engineering teams, and the project team to ensure that materials and equipment are ordered to meet project and customer needs and delivered on time and within budget. Your ability to negotiate, manage vendor relationships, and monitor the supply chain will be critical to the success of our projects.

  • Procurement Management support:
    • Monitor market and supply chain conditions including key commodity prices, general supply and demand trends with an emphasis on lead times and market "making" orders by others.
    • Identify and evaluate potential vendors and subcontractors for critical power infrastructure, critical cooling infrastructure, trade subcontractors, and any other needs to facilitate successful project delivery
    • Utilize marketplace knowledge to review proposals from suppliers. Identify terms and issues to refer to Subject Matter Experts on the team for timely resolution.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms with suppliers to secure the best possible value structure, and work with finance and legal functions to execute contracts in accordance with company policies and customer contract requirements.
    • Responsible for the procurement process from time of bid, bid leveling, to release of production. Be involved with equipment procurement after release of production until site delivery, ensuring project schedule and scope is adhered to contractual obligations.
    • Formalize procurement and logistics policies and set measurable goal (KPIs) to hold teams accountable.
    • Develop pricing strategies with key long lead equipment vendors and trade contractors.
    • Advise Procurement Manager of procurement issues and develop and execute mitigation plans.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management:
    • Serve as a point of contact with vendors and subcontractors.
    • maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
    • Monitor vendor performance and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
    • Implement analytics and quantitative review as part of purchasing decision-making
    • Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely shipping and delivery of equipment to the construction site.
  • Bid Management:
    • Prepare and manage the bid process for long lead equipment, including issuing RFPs, evaluating proposals, coordinating review by SMEs/project team member and selecting vendors after proper bid leveling has been completed per CPG policy.
    • Collaborate with the estimating and preconstruction teams to ensure accurate and competitive pricing once leveled, is included in the final bid submission.
  • Inventory & Logistics Tracking:
    • Monitor and track the status of all purchased materials, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
    • Work with logistics providers to manage the shipping and delivery of materials.
    • Implement tracking systems to monitor the movement of materials from suppliers to the construction site.
    • Originate and issue monthly status reports as requested on a project or firm basis.
    • Identify risks to timely performance and escalate effectively
  • Budget & Cost Control:
    • Track procurement costs, ensuring that all purchases are within the project budget for each project.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reductions and implement strategies to reduce procurement expenses.
    • Change order management during submittal process
    • Ensure loose ship items are coordinated and included as needed in initial budget and equipment purchase orders to ensure change orders are not accrued during the project.
    • Working with project team, determine the appropriate amount of overage or replacement materials are required to mitigate risk of loss, damage or installation error. Evaluate to other means such as quick ship options, to mitigate the cost of overprovisioning and waste.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
    • Ensure that all procurement activities comply with company policies and industry standards.
    • Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, including contracts, purchase orders, and invoices.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, preferably in the construction or mission critical industries.
  • Proven experience in managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and handling bids.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical infrastructure, cooling infrastructure, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of data center construction is a plus.


Computer Skills:
  • Proficiency is Microsoft Office Suite, Procore and Bluebeam

Pay Range: $81,061 - $121,643 per year
