Department Overview

As one of only two Level I Trauma Centers in Oregon, the nurses of the Trauma & Surgical Intensive Care Unit (TSICU) provide exceptional care to traumatically injured patients in Oregon, Southwest Washington and Northern California. The unit also cares for Emergency General Surgery patients, as well as patients from Specialty Surgery Services such as Liver Transplant, EGS, ENT, OB/GYN, Plastics, and Ortho. The unit has a reputation for excellent teamwork and collaboration. The nurses and physicians along with other key members of the health care team work together to ensure patients receive progressive, evidence-based treatment.Requires prioritization of multiple projects, activities, and assignments.Frequent interruptions in an evironment of frequent change and fluctuations. May be required to attend out of town conferences according to hospital travel and reimbursement policicies.Exercise the ability to implement a flexible work schedule to meet the unit needs and to create a work-life balance, primarily on the off shift (evening and nights).

Function/Duties of Position

The Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager, in collaboration with a Nurse Manager, will be responsible for managerial and supervisory functions of a 24 hour inpatient nursing unit. Position will function primarily on evening and nightshift hours to expand managerial support to the off shifts. The Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager will partner with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure effective delivery of quality clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures. Will perform managerial activities including performance evaluations, employee mentoring, project management and roll out of quality and safety initiatives, ensure adherence to hospital and clinical standards of performance, and human resource management.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant clinical with strong leadership experience such as charge nurse role.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
  • BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • BLS must not expire during orientation
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
