ABOUT CONTRACT SERVICES:
In the mid-1960s, the major film studios, in negotiations with Hollywood's unions, founded the non-profit Contract Services Administration Trust Fund (CSATF) and later added Contract Services Administration Trust Training Fund (CSATTF), now collectively referred to as Contract Services (CS). CS carries out an extensive list of contractual, legal, and regulatory obligations that must be implemented on behalf of the studios, especially with respect to certain requirements of the collective bargaining agreements that apply to a freelance union workforce of more than 50,000 production workers in the greater Los Angeles area. These services include administering seniority rosters, operating safety training and apprenticeship programs, administering a drug and alcohol testing program that applies to commercial drivers working in the motion picture industry, and implementing many other industry-wide services, studies and/or education on behalf of the motion picture production industry.

Contract Services is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director of eLearning Design and Development who will be responsible for bringing pioneering innovation to, and overseeing the design, development, and implementation of curriculum (self-paced online, live webinar, and supporting in-person) through close collaboration with Contract Services leadership, subject matter experts, and external company executives. This person will ensure the continuous delivery, monitoring, and review of curriculum, and the learner's journey, supported by their professional expertise and continuous learning by actively researching current trends and making recommendations consistent with the company mission and goals.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates curriculum design standards based on proven methodologies, pioneering innovation, and emerging technologies that enhance best practices and result in high quality learning experiences.
- Provides expertise (critique and coach) on effective curriculum design and assessment methodologies appropriate for adult learners of all education levels.
- Ensures the learner's journey is impactful from beginning to end and supports an environment that influences learning.
- Establishes and implements the appropriate metrics to use for the evaluation of training effectiveness.
- Creates a plan for, and works with, outside vendors as an "extension of the department" to complete multiple projects simultaneously in a timely fashion and ensures vendors are delivering according to Contract Services' standards.
- Collaborate with other departments, including Information Technology Project Management on all technical issues that affect curriculum.
- Manages Curriculum Development Department to deliver courses on schedule, meeting project milestones from initiative to completion.
- Regularly communicates as necessary with Contract Service's leadership to ensure they are informed of project statuses.
- Ensures the curriculum is designed for a diverse, multi-lingual audience and is flexible to complete through a variety of learning paths across multiple platforms and devices (i.e., mobile delivery or apps).
- Ensures curriculum is aligned with learning objectives/outcomes and exhibit best practices for visual and interactions that supports adult learning.
- Maintains a current knowledge of curricular trends and research, reporting findings and making recommendations or changes when appropriate.
- Cultivates a positive relationship and two-way communication with stakeholders; identifies and understands the needs, wants, and expectations of stakeholders, whether internal or external; delivers products and services that meet stakeholder needs.
- Creates an environment that embraces change and helps others accept new ideas.
- Able to act in solving complex problems while exhibiting professional judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; able to use reason; able to use a systematic approach through analysis of complex problems and evaluation of alternate solutions.
- Explores and recommends professional learning opportunities for the department staff.
- Ensure all project documents are safely archived following project completion.
- Maintains project confidentiality when appropriate.
- Work with Instructional Design Manager, and other appropriate Contract Services Staff to recruit, train, cross-train, educate, evaluate, and set individual development and team goals for direct reports.
- Oversee and assist with various projects as requested by the Director, Training.
IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
- Advanced knowledge of instructional design principles.
- Ability to effectively manage employees engaged in developing curriculum that requires a high level of efficiency and accuracy.
- Proficiency in multiple eLearning development tools and Learning Management Systems.
- Ability to manage employees working remotely in multiple locations and time zones.
- Ability to set clear objectives and measurements to ensure employees are productive and provide the highest levels of quality.
- Ability to maintain and enhance established processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Exceptional leader with strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving and analytical skills.
- A deductive thinker who is proactive and thrives by leading and thinking in the 'big picture' rather than as an individual contributor.
- Effective organization and time management skills with multiple projects.
- Knowledge of the Motion Picture and Television Industry and Unions preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA (California and Federal) regulations, ANSI, NFPA, and other regulatory standards preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree in a related field preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of professional leadership, managing eLearning/microlearning programs blended with in-person and webinars.
- 10+ years of experience in training/education and creating adult eLearning/microlearning programs.
- Experience developing safety and compliance-related training preferred.
OR
- Any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS:
- This position is hybrid and will work partially on-site in our Burbank office, as well as from home.
