Description:

JOB PURPOSE

Manage, coach, mentor and develop associates, implement process enhancements, and promote a positive culture throughout the facility by establishing sound systems and a demonstrated process focus utilizing ISO and LEAN based workflows.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiates process improvements through continuous improvement techniques that support quality improvements, cycle time reductions, cost reductions, and other activities aimed at reducing/eliminating non-value-added work. Responsible for development and preparation of process improvements and accountable for leading instructions, facilitating team decisions, managing teamwork, resolving conflict, assisting with implementation, and conducting required follow-up.
  • Establish systems for data collection and analysis. Then, use that data to drive continuous improvement activities within all manufacturing departments.
  • Increase manufacturing capability through driving new and novel use of our existing equipment and through the selective acquisition and implementation of new complementary capabilities. Understanding single piece flow concepts and implementation.
  • Manages the transition of product design and development for new or existing products from customer designs to manufacturing. Supports and assists internal development projects to ensure a smooth transition into full production.
  • Accountable for design and implementation of jig and fixture improvements, gaging upgrades, material handling and overall manufacturing product/process flow enhancements.
  • Establish systems for data collection and establish and analysis to continuous improvement goals.
  • Author, release and maintain manufacturing process sheets.
  • Provide technical assistance to all operating departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or related experience in engineering role.
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing improvement projects in a manufacturing setting.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office products (Primarily Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD/CAM software.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with metal machining, molding, plating and assembly processes.
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001 quality systems.
  • Working knowledge of AIAG standards, including APQP, PPAP and Control Plans.
  • Experienced in using Continuous Improvement tools (i.e., Fishbone Diagrams, 5-Whys, 8D, Gage R&R, PFMEA, SPC, etc.).
  • Experienced working on a Lean Journey and implementation of the plan.


WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a typical office environment, including heavy PC and phone usage; as well as working in a manufacturing environment or working in or near a range while range is active. Work is also performed in a high-volume manufacturing environment, working with chemicals, and handling with both manual and automated equipment and systems. Specific job assignments may require day, evening, weekend or holiday hours. Overtime and some travel may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Team members are constantly standing, walking, carrying, twisting, bending, seeing, stooping, balancing, hearing, as well as handing paperwork and heavy PC computer usage Team members will be lifting objects from floor to waist up to 50 pounds.
