The Master Scheduler will oversee the demand plan to drive optimal inventory levels of raw & finished materials and will coordinate production schedules and work orders to ensure efficient and effective production operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborates with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.
- Manages demand planning software to optimize forecast & stocking levels based on historical trends in the business.
- Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed.
- Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, and production schedule to meet delivery dates.
- Maintains master distribution schedule; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
- Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments.
- Collaborates with Engineering to manage the life cycle of product transitions to minimize excess & obsolete inventory.
- Analyzes inventory on a regular basis and recommends supply & demand polices that will minimize excess inventory without negatively impacting on-time delivery.
- Provides input to management regarding problems such as shortages, design changes, backlogs, and the like.
- Controls and analyzes current and future labor demands on the production floor.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required, or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of related experience required.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing operations and supply chain.
- Extremely proficient with production planning systems and spreadsheet modeling.
Desired Experience:
- Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.
