Serving as both the University's Chief Academic Officer and its second-ranking officer, the Provost leads university-wide strategic planning and is responsible for leadership and oversight of the University's academic programs, policies, and intellectual life. Responsible for all colleges, academic departments, and programs, the Provost oversees the processes of faculty appointment, development, promotion, and tenure. In fulfilling the responsibilities of the office, the Provost works with Deans, Vice Presidents, Vice Provosts, and Executive Directors to attract and retain a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
This position requires a leader with a distinguished record of academic leadership as well as scholarship and research and a demonstrated passion for excellence in education who is comfortable navigating complex challenges in a private university setting and has the collaborative talents necessary to bring together many constituencies. The Provost participates in all major decisions affecting the campus and reports directly to the President, as a member of the President's cabinet.
