Position Summary

Director, Center for Teaching and Learning
Academic Affairs
Full-Time

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaboratively develop, maintain, and implement strategic planning for the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL)
  • Supervise daily operations pertaining to CTL and staffing
  • Effectively manage the CTL budget, facilities, and resources
  • Complete written reports and summaries of data related to CTL operations and strategic planning
  • Collaborate with key institutional stakeholders to identify and promote best practices in instruction, instructional design, and the assessment of teaching
  • Manage and make available teaching and learning resources to support faculty and foster student success
  • Coordinate the onboarding and training of new faculty and adjunct instructors
  • Coordinate timely and relevant professional development and training with input from faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Develop and coordinate the delivery of innovative faculty development programming that supports the institution's mission and vision.
  • Present and disseminate information on research-informed best practices in teaching and learning to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Provide instructional design support in developing, organizing, and implementing new programs, projects, or curriculum.
  • Foster the appropriate use and integration of technologies and software related to instruction
  • Ensure curriculum developed by external entities follows institutional requirements and best practices
  • Collaborate effectively with all academic departments and units across campus in the development, delivery, and assessment of instructional materials
  • Directly collaborate with Southeast Online and Information Technology on jointly managed projects and operations
  • Work collectively with constituents to solve problems related to instructional design or implementation of the LMS for instructional purposes
  • Determine best practices and procedures related to instructional design and faculty development

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, Education, Curriculum Design, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience leading and developing educational strategies (e.g., faculty development, teaching in higher education, instructional design, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience applying assessment strategies and tools for the evaluation of instructional materials
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing budget expenditures
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, and students
