Position Overview

The Rockefeller Foundation (RF) seeks a Director, Resource Mobilization and Strategic Partnerships to support key initiatives by building strategic partnerships and mobilizing resources for climate solutions in clean energy, food, health, and finance. This team focuses on cultivating partnerships with private philanthropies, family offices, donor-advised funds, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, development banks, and bilateral aid agencies.

Reporting to the Vice President, Resource Mobilization this role will aid leadership and program teams in identifying and stewarding funding partners to enhance the Foundation's investments and strategy for human wellbeing and climate action. The position is highly visible, collaborating with Program Strategy, Program teams, and RFCC to identify and manage donor relations and implement tools like Salesforce for improved effectiveness.

This is an opportunity for a development professional with experience in major gifts and institutional fundraising to join a leading organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong fundraising background, excellent networking skills, and the ability to build relationships and implement strategies with attention to detail. An entrepreneurial spirit and a knack for creative fundraising strategies are essential.

Pay Range: $166,291 - $228,571. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation's pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and direct the resource mobilization strategy for RF identifying prospective donors and strategic partners, in close collaboration with the Vice President. Critically probe, test, and evaluate strategies and plans for achieving goals.
  • Effectively prepare briefings and reports to tee up strategic decisions for the Vice President and other Senior Leaders.
  • Work closely with program teams to develop their respective resource mobilization strategies, and deeply understand a wide variety of programmatic priorities and initiatives.
  • Direct research on prospective donors and other potential strategic partners to build an understanding of the program teams' goals as they correspond to RF's priorities at the institutional and program levels.
  • Develop global outreach campaigns and marketing materials with program teams and the Communications and Policy teams.
  • Engage in high-level meetings with prospective large-scale (international) donors and represent The Rockefeller Foundation with external constituents and stakeholders such as governments, and private and corporate foundations.
  • Develop relationships with high-level decision-makers, moving relationships through a pipeline from identification and lead generation to donation and relationship stewardship.
  • Manage external consulting support (as needed), in close collaboration with the Vice President.
  • Support the development of the team and provide meaningful feedback.

Education, Experience, and Skills
  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience in fundraising, strategic partnerships, and/or resource mobilization.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to actively and independently adapt, research, learn, and develop new knowledge
  • Experience in developing donor cultivation and solicitation strategies with knowledge of fundraising best practices for solicitation, stewardship, and funder/grant compliance.
  • Experience working with foundations, high net worth donors, and corporate philanthropy; familiarity with government grants and contracts.
  • Has a deep understanding of, and experience with, international development and the different actors who are active in the ecosystem including governments, multilateral development banks, international organizations, development finance institutions, and other CSOs.
  • Ability to lead and manage a project from start to finish.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written; experience generating visual representations of program outcomes.
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: diplomacy, patience, and team orientation.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work amidst competing demands.
