Sr. Tax Manager- North America

Salary- up to 165K plus bonus

Hybrid 2X/week- We have a shuttle from NYC

Specific Requirements

The responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
  • Management and control of the tax positions of group legal entities in the USA and Canada.
  • General international tax work in broad sense, including identification of opportunities, implementation of restructurings, ensuring objectives of compliance and tax management.
  • Ensuring corporate compliance under global policy and roll-out of Tax Governance Framework.
  • Prepare appropriate responses to fiscal authority challenges, including managing tax audits, dispute resolution, negotiation and settlement of tax disputes/claims or mutual agreement procedures, where and as necessary.
  • Manage and coordinate tax compliance as regards Federal and State Income Taxes, S&U Tax, HST/GST/VAT, Property Taxes, AUP across the region
  • Preparation, review and follow-up of return-to-provision calculations and journal entries in framework of quarterly tax accounting and reporting in the USA / Canada / America's.
  • Support in further developing the effectiveness of centralization of the tax department.
  • Identifying process improvements, including the design and implementation of new practices
  • Developing sound working relationships with key departments within the Amer Sports organization, e.g. Finance, Legal, Treasury and Operations.
  • Establishing an efficient network including important (internal-) customers and suppliers to achieve a common understanding for tax matters.
  • To be the primary contact and to liaise with external tax advisors, lawyers and auditor on any of the above tax matters.
  • Keeping up to date with tax related developments in legislation, case law and local practice.
  • Ensuring that transfer pricing documentation, incl IC agreements remains up-to-date to address future tax audits.
  • Assistance with more general international tax work, as necessary


Qualifications & Experience
  • Master degree in taxation or masters in accountancy with an emphasis in taxation, or master Economics (MSc) or Law (LL.M) is a must. Tax qualification has a strong preference.
  • CPA (or equivalent) in addition would be a plus.
  • At least 14 years experience in international taxation, knowledge of transfer pricing, restructurings, financing, managing tax audits and hands-on experience with tax return compilation and filings.
  • Experience from Big 4 firm or industry; experience from both is a strong plus.
  • Experience in FMCG (sports) industry is a plus.
  • Previous experience of analysis and evaluation of national and inter-company cross-border business relationships.
  • Experience with international GST and customs duties is a plus.
  • Experience with IFRS (tax) accounting practices is a must
  • Experience in developing/supporting group/regional tax strategies.
  • Good understanding of main business processes and strategic issues.
  • Experience with tax and finance related software packages
  • The successful candidate must have demonstrated the ability to achieve results in a complex, multi-functional, multi-cultural and multi-geographical environment.
