Position Summary:The School of Applied Engineering and Technology(SAET) of the Newark College of Engineering at NJIT is searching for a Sr.University Lecturer for its Electrical and Mechanical Engineering TechnologyDivision (SEMD), specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology(ECET). The candidate will teach primarily undergraduate courses in the ECET programand serve as the Program Coordinator. Teaching may include both lower and upperlevel as well as lab courses. The ideal candidate will have a broad set of ECET skills withfamiliarity in the major branches of ECET including power systems engineering,control systems, communications, electronics engineering, microelectronics,hardware systems, cybersecurity, and networking. In addition, the preferredcandidate would have specific experience in power systems engineering. The individual should be willing to work with colleagues to developnew teaching approaches, curriculum, and experiential opportunities in the NJITMakerspace. S/he will teach inaccordance with the policies and standards of the department and the directionof the Chairperson. In addition,although this is primarily a teaching position, the candidate may also beinvolved in other activities in accordance with the terms of the currentcollective bargaining agreement.

Essential Functions:Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to adviseand assist students. Participate in course, program, and experiential learningdevelopment as required along with the formal assessment of studentperformance. Participate in student events and external outreach activities asrequired. Serve as Program Coordinator working with an academic advisor anddepartment chairperson to administer the program to students. This includesprogram development, organizing and managing part time/fulltime instructorteaching assignments, communicating with community colleges,recruitment/retention activities, scheduling of courses, student advisement,organizing constituent meetings [e.g. Industrial Advisory Board (IAB)], andleading ABET accreditation related activities.

Prerequisite Qualifications:- Candidates with a minimum of a M.S.in Engineering, or related field, together with strong industrial experiencewill be seriously considered.
- A minimum of five years teaching experience inhigher education.
- At the university's discretion, the educationand experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate candemonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success inthe position.

Preferred Qualifications:Strong preference will be given to applicants with industrialexperience, Professional Engineering licensure, and a Ph.D. in Engineering orrelated field.
