Description

Upfront is seeking a Manager, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead our QA automation and software testing efforts. In this role, you will manage a team of QA analysts and be responsible for defining the test automation strategy, enhancing the testing frameworks, and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. As a manager, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, product management, DevOps, and quality assurance, to integrate testing into the development pipeline and drive continuous improvement in test automation. This is a hands-on role.

Role Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor SDETs, promoting collaboration, accountability, and quality. Set performance goals, track progress, and provide technical guidance to ensure adherence to best practices in test automation and software quality.
  • Test Strategy and Automation: Define and improve test automation strategies. Oversee the design and maintenance of scalable test automation frameworks for various testing types. Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and enhance backend and frontend test coverage.
  • Quality Assurance Process Management: Ensure comprehensive test coverage and drive automated test case execution. Define quality metrics to track testing effectiveness and promote continuous improvement. Lead efforts to adopt new tools and methodologies for enhancing testing quality and efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of code, system architecture, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply this knowledge to improve existing systems and processes.


Role Related PHI Access
  • This role requires access to all client accounts for purposes of client implementations as well as client environment QA/UAT processes.


Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in software testing, automation, and quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD) using tools like Cucumber or SpecFlow.
  • Strong experience in building and leading SDET teams.
  • Extensive experience developing test automation frameworks and tools, with hands-on proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Proven experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Appium, Cypress, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and security testing practices.
  • Experience with testing APIs, microservices, and modern cloud-based architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps.
