Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Category Manager to join our Pinemelon team, responsible for growing a diverse set of categories to increase sales, profitability, and improve customer satisfaction. You will be tasked with identifying opportunities to expand our assortment, purchasing and managing inventory, implementing pricing strategies, and planning product promotions. Cultivating strong relationships with internal and external partners is imperative for success in this role. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and a thorough understanding of strategic retail management methodologies.

Shift Availability:

Monday-Friday reporting to our Denver, CO location- this is NOT a remote opportunity.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Category Strategy Development: Develop and execute strategies for assortment planning, new product curation, and performance optimization, utilizing syndicated data (SPINS) to identify category gaps effectively.
  • Market Research: Conduct in-depth analysis and forecasting of market trends for targeted demographics.
  • Supplier Management: Cultivate relationships to improve product availability and quality, negotiate for competitiveness and value, and ensure efficient execution.
  • Ownership of Category P&L: Take full ownership of the category's profit and loss, employing retail tactics to achieve sales, turnover, and margin targets.
  • Sales and Inventory Management: Utilize data to identify risks and opportunities in the assortment, ensure optimal stock availability and maximize sales performance.
  • Promotional Planning and Execution: Coordinate with Marketing to develop, execute, and evaluate the performance of promotional campaigns.
  • Site Merchandising: Strategically curate collections to display relevant products to the consumer, optimizing user experience to drive sales conversions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Data and Product teams to leverage diverse expertise and achieve shared objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and execute against opportunities that will enhance efficiency and drive quality decision-making.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and plans.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, P&L management, and budgeting.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in dynamic, high-growth environments, able to quickly learn new systems and processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across the organization.
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in G-Suite, Excel, and Slack.
  • Ability to occasionally work with an international team with a 12+hour time zone difference.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 4 years experience in Category Management, Merchandising, or Purchasing.
  • Experience in team management preferred.
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong preference for e-commerce and food industry experience.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Must be able to regularly travel to trade shows and retail locations.
