The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is searching for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor to serve as Medical Director of Adult Liver Transplantation. There will also be an opportunity for a leadership role as Chief of Hepatology. The appointee will join an established group of nationally known physicians and surgeons and serve as the UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) administrator. In collaboration with a team with colleagues from the Transplant Center, the appointee will also be responsible for expanding a preeminent program for academic discovery and clinical care.

The program is currently ACGME-accredited to train a minimum of one ACGME-accredited advanced hepatology fellow each year. Clinical responsibilities, including general hepatology and liver transplant service, will be based at the University of Chicago's main campus, with consultative services also provided at one or more sites in the Chicago area. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be BC/BE in gastroenterology, and 4) have advanced training in transplant hepatology (or equivalent experience).
