Position Overview: The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the quality of work performed, client service, utilization of staff, contract management, billing collection, and project profitability. This role applies technical expertise and project management experience to manage project teams, functions as a mentor to technical staff, and acts as a company representative to clients. Experience in public infrastructure design is strongly preferred due to our focus on serving public agencies such as cities and counties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the quality of work, schedule, and profitability of managed projects.
  • Assist the Branch Office Manager (BOM) in implementing the Business Development sales plan and goals for the office.
  • Maintain positive relationships with current clients and stay aware of potential projects they might consider.
  • Assist the BOM in proposal preparation, identify new business opportunities, and promote SPI's capabilities and services to existing and prospective clients.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to technical staff and direct project team and client compliance with contract terms.
  • Serve as the Project Engineer on some projects.
  • Coordinate and participate in proposal development, contract negotiations, and drafting of professional service agreements and modifications.
  • Monitor engineering contracts, subcontracts, contract modifications, and other agreements to ensure adherence to internal procedures.
  • Maintain direct contact with clients and be readily available to office staff and clients.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Must have 10-15 years of experience in the profession.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas.
  • Strongly preferred: Experience in public infrastructure design.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Possesses all qualifications, knowledge, and experience of a Project Engineer.
  • Proven ability to define projects, develop tasks, coordinate and monitor work, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience in coordinating technical efforts of others.
  • Demonstrated project management experience from conception to completion of significant projects.
  • Demonstrated success in completing projects on schedule and within budget.
