Description:

This patient care position is responsible for responding to medical and health problems presented by patients including but not limited to collecting historical medical information, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and providing referral opportunities as appropriate. In addition, this position is tasked with keeping informed of medical developments, drugs, treatments and medications and promoting health education.

Essential Functions and Duties
Day-to-day responsibilities of seeing patients and responding accordingly.
Analyzes records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient.
Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
Monitors patients' conditions and progress and re-evaluates treatments as necessary.
Maintains strict patient confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
Refers patients to specialty physicians and outside practices in conjunction with patient diagnosis.
Oversees preventative medical programs for patients as needed.
Meets with and discusses the development of new pharmaceutical products with sales representatives.
Manages patients' records using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
Maintains a portfolio of continuing professional development activities.
May have to supervise a Physician's Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) from time to time.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree, Medical School and residency requirements.
Must pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
  • Preferred Board Certified or Board Eligible


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Highly self-motivated and result-driven individual with willingness to serve patients in a high pressure environment.
Must have a good bedside manner, be emotionally stable and have the ability to make decisions in emergency situations.
Strong verbal communication skills and a desire for further education to keep up with ever changing medical advances.
Must have the ability to work well under pressure and to stay calm and focused in emergency situations.
Ability to think on his/her feet.
Must have strong interpersonal skills and good judgement and be capable or communicating with a diverse range of individuals.
