The Edmonton Arts Council (EAC) is a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to support and promote the arts community in Edmonton. The EAC works to increase the profile and involvement of arts and culture in all aspects of community life. Our programs and services are designed to realize Connections & Exchanges: A 10-Year Plan To Transform Arts and Heritage In Edmonton.

Under the guidance of the Associate Executive Director, Programs, Services and Access, the Director, Investments, Services and Partnerships is responsible for the leadership of the Investments, Services and Partnerships Portfolio which includes three Teams; Arts Development and Investments; Arts and Retail Services; and Community Animation and Creative Partnerships. As a change forward leader, you will guide the continued transformation of portfolio deliverables to achieve immediate and medium-term impacts to the arts ecologies of the capital region.

Your career demonstrates the strength of your administrative and management capabilities achieving demonstrable results through the cohesive planning of integrated, special projects and complimentary initiatives. Your experience incorporates a consultative style to engage with community stakeholders and representatives.

Working with the Portfolio Teams and in collaboration with other members of the Leadership and their Teams, The Director translates the strategic direction of Connections & Exchanges to actionable operational plans to realize the EAC's strategic and operational priorities.

You will create and nurture opportunities for activities concentrated on the transformation of the arts ecology by building programs, services and partnerships that support capacity building, innovation and resiliency. You will provide leadership to your teams in adopting inclusive approaches, seeking out diverse perspectives, advancing equity and improving access to investment programs, arts and retail services and community animation. In achieving these goals, you will guide your teams through the EAC's four operational approaches of Listening and Understanding, Shaping and Advancing, Seeking and Exploring and Creating and Showing to bring consistency to the planning, delivery and evaluation of their work.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader of teams and change management, guided by demonstrated desire and success in building relationships, experience driving transformation in community investments, and the ability to align strategic plans with delivery outcomes guided by a commitment to collaboration across diverse teams.

Your career path may include a variety of complementary experiences that will include:

  • Post-secondary degree in Arts or Arts Administration, Business, Management, or similar courses of study.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience with progressively more responsibilities in arts administration, organizational management, senior leadership, philanthropic funding or program management augmented by a demonstrable passion and knowledge for arts and culture ecosystems in a civic environment comparable to Edmonton's.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a leadership role. Proven ability to lead a collection of teams with unique mandates and deliverables, through an approach grounded in collaboration, sound judgement, tact and diplomacy and responsiveness to diverse stakeholder needs.
  • A champion of strategic thinking and outcome-based change to drive community impact.
  • Demonstrated success working in partnership with civic and community stakeholders and partners, Board, Executive Leadership, and Staff.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality outcomes on a consistent basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and analyze complex problems, develop and evaluate options and implement appropriate responses and/or solutions.

Your role will work from the EAC office located in the Prince of Wales Armories.
