ABOUT THE POSITION

This position works with a multidisciplinary team across multiple sites to achieve the concrete product roadmap and keep Astec at the leading edge of technology and deliver value to customers in this market segment while maintaining compliance of the products within the various legal requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate actively in new product development activities.
  • Create and evaluate designs to meet specific requirements.
  • Run calculations and material selections according to various designs.
  • Validate CAD packages.
  • Participates in the production of new products including drawings packages to production, materials requests, fabrication follow up, quality control issues resolution, operational testing, final inspection prior to delivery release and service manual production.
  • Provide product specific service support for mechanical and structural troubleshooting.
  • Work with customers, vendors, product managers, project managers, salesmen, structural engineers and other internal functions for concrete products and associated equipment designs, layouts, permitting support and issue resolution.
  • Monitors current mechanical and structural designs for manufacturability, cost/time reduction on product line.
  • Maintain product specific documentation.
  • Occasionally travel to job sites to assist customers or evaluate new designs.
  • Adhere to Astec's core values and model desirable behaviors with internal and external customers.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering design.
  • Ability to work effectively with all company departments and customers.
  • Ability and willingness to communicate well in oral and written form in English.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
  • Ability to travel internationally and occasionally work at heights or in confined spaces is required.
  • Ability to use test/measurement instruments and to support plant layout and retrofit of existing equipment.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • State licensed professional engineer preferred.
  • Three years of mechanical and/or structural design experience preferred.
  • Hydraulics components and systems experience preferred.
  • French and/or Spanish proficiency (oral and written) preferred
