SUMMARY:
The Resident Engineer/Project Engineer will be a key member of the Bryant Construction Management Team in our Syracuse, NY office, where he/she will provide technical engineering information to contractors in support of the successful completion of projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Resident Engineer/Project Engineer will, with limited supervision, provide technical information to contractors to ensure that projects comply with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED)
Reviews, analyzes and resolves field construction problems, discrepancies and interferences with architect/engineer, owner and specialty contractors on a daily basis
Responsible for document control, submittals, quality control and safety observances
Monitors fieldwork and works with contractor to ensure compliance, maintenance of schedule and adherence budget
Attend and participate in project coordination meetings
Track and enforce project schedule as it relates to submittals, performance of project work and close out
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must possess all required certifications/training for each assignment
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Detail oriented
Strong interpersonal skills. Able to build and maintain strong relationships
Exceptional project management and organizational skills
Problem solver
Must be flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment
Desire to work in a team environment
Observes company and client safety requirements
Must have a valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
NICET Level IV Certification or
Former NYSDOT Employee as a CE1 or
Master's Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering with acceptable experience or 10+ years of acceptable experience (provisional pending NICET certification)
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in SiteManager or other required construction management software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
AutoCad Civil 3D proficiency a plus
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees and supervises all construction inspection staff assigned to the project
TRAVEL:
Local travel to job sites and client meetings as required
