Job Description

The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Corporate Controller and the Accounting, Operations, and Sales teams to maintain accurate financial records, monitor and improve processes, help oversee the month-end accounting close process, create and maintain accurate and high quality financial statements and reports, and perform ad hoc analysis.

Responsibilities:
Helps oversees the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, helps sets expectations, reviews work prepared by other team members, and helps ensure the workload is balanced adequately
Supports the A/R, A/P, and Fixed Assets functions by reviewing work, researching and reconciling errors, and helping manage the aging of both customer and vendor invoices
Prepares and file monthly sales tax returns
Manages the month-end close process by setting target dates, reviewing workpapers, answering questions and solving problems that arise, so that we can close the books each month in a timely fashion
Reviews the general ledger, balance sheet, and income statement, and scrubs the statements prior to closing the month
Assists with preparing the monthly financial statement package that is provided to the Board of Directors and Banking Group
Creates, maintains, and publishes various reports and presentations to senior management, sales, and operations
Assists with the annual and interim external financial audits by preparing reports, answering auditor questions, and managing the process
Assists with the tax preparation process by preparing reports and answering tax accountant questions Maintains and enforces current accounting policies and processes, as well as optimizes them as the need arises; suggest and creates new processes as needed
Serves as a resource for team members to ask questions about current processes and potential improvements, software usage, and handling customer/vendor questions

Qualifications

Education, Certifications, and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
Master's in Business, or an MBA, and a CPA certification are both pluses
Ideal candidate will have 7+ years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience

Additional Information

Competencies and Skills:
Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with the ability to research technical accounting issues and questions that arise
High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks Enterprise
Excellent verbal and written communication; extensive customer service experience is a plus
Strong analytical ability and organizational skills, with great attention to detail
Energetic self-starter, with ability to work in fast-paced environment
Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
