The Program Director for Nursing for the Practical Nursing program is responsible for all aspects of management and administration of the Practical Nursing program related to teaching, advising students, program development and effectiveness, clinical site management, internship management, student progression, review and analysis of program data and outcomes, scheduling (student and faculty), student learning outcomes, and retention per company policies and procedures. In support of the company mission, the Program Director of Nursing works with the faculty and support staff to promote continuous improvement in the quality of instruction through ongoing development, coaching, and training. The Director of Nursing safeguards and upholds the highest standards of compliance with accrediting bodies, state regulators, institutional policies, procedures, and best practices.

Functions:

Establish and maintain a conducive learning environment for students and faculty

Identify, hire, and train qualified faculty

Partner with the Director of Education to lead the faculty development efforts of the department, including orientation, ongoing training, and professional development

Provide timely faculty mentoring, observations, coaching, and feedback

Certifies to the State Board of Nursing graduates who qualify for the NCLEX-PN examination

Utilizes current technology and teaching/learning theories to present content based on the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act, the NCLEX-PN test plan, and standards of nursing practice

Qualifications:

Registered Nurse currently licensed with the following qualifications:
  • Minimum of an associate's degree or diploma in nursing from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of a baccalaureate degree, preferably in nursing
  • Minimum of four years of verifiable work experience in nursing
  • Evidence of current practice with a minimum of two (2) years of full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a nursing faculty member
  • Must have 2 years in a healthcare facility as an RN
  • One year teaching experience as a full-time nursing faculty member in a nursing education program leading to licensure
  • A minimum of a graduate degree in nursing. If not, a minimum of 6 credit hours per year towards an MSN
  • A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience as a full-time nursing faculty member in a nursing education program leading to a registered nurse licensure.
