POSITION OVERVIEW
The design engineer will work across multiple programs within Intelligent Automation, Inc. (IAI) to support the selection, fabrication and testing of sensors and light sources. The position requires familiarity with electro-optic devices including detectors, cameras, lasers and optics in the visible through LWIR bands, the ability to write utility code for data analysis and the ability to participate in field data collections and testing. The ability to organize, analyze and report data is essential. This position will report to the Director of the Robotics & Electromechanical Systems (REMS) group
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES
Assist in the assembly and testing of electro optical systems that may include laser rangefinders, visible cameras, NIR cameras, SWIR sensors and cameras and/or LWIR cameras.
Assist in data collection of high throughput camera systems, rangefinders and other EO equipment and prototypes.
Write custom code to read, analyze and display data (code is engineering code, not meant for use by others)
Assist in analyzing data, which may be for a trade study or system test.
Provide minor technician work, including breadboard assembly and limited soldering
REQUIRED SKILLS
Proficiency in programming for engineering in an appropriate language (Matlab, C/C++, Mathematica, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reports and presentations
Soldering and assembly of components
Ability to assist in moving and setting up equipment for field testing and data collection
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics
Three (3) years of experience with electro-optical systems
