FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA (USA). Sanford Health's multi-subspecialty hospital-based Pain Medicine group is seeking a BE/BC fellowship-trained Pain Medicine or Interventional Spine physician for a full-time position. Join a supportive team of two physicians and four advanced practice providers.
Practice Details:
Department has a multi-disciplinary practice style
Position consists of pain management through procedures, medications, psychology, sleep medicine, physical therapy, integrative health, and nutrition
Management of medications including non-opioid & opioid for select patients (not many)
Managing patients with intrathecal pain pumps
Four procedure rooms in hospital outpatient based department (20-30 procedures/day)
Strong referral network from both internal and external providers
Very strong relationship with Neurosurgery who is a primary contributor to the spine clinic within the institution
Sanford's Pain Management Services provides outpatient service weekdays only (no call on weekends or evenings)
This is the largest pain clinic in North Dakota where we see about 1500 patients per month
Level I Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Center

Position Requirements:
Completion of Pain fellowship and residency in one of the following areas is required: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, Psychiatry, or Anesthesiology.
Comfortable with performing a broad range of spine procedures including epidural steroid injections, selective nerve root blocks, and radiofrequency ablations
Willing to manage patients with intrathecal pain pumps (will train the right person, if needed)
Interested in managing pain through procedures, medications, psychology, sleep medicine, physical therapy, integrative health, and nutrition

Job Description
Pain Medicine Core Privileges the ability to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to adolescent and adult patients with acute and chronic pain or pain requiring palliative care, which includes invasive pain medicine procedures beyond basic pain medicine.
Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree.
Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested:
An applicant who has just completed a fellowship provides his/her fellowship log.
OR
An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from the facility(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 50 inpatients, outpatients, or consultative services for at least 50 patients during the last 12 months.
More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.
Successful completion of a hospital affiliated residency in Anesthesiology, Neurology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Radiology, Internal Medicine or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program and completion of a fellowship in Pain Medicine in accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. (Refer to each entity's policy for grandfather exceptions)
