Primary Function:
Essential Duties Possess knowledge of and the ability to perform duties in accordance with established standards for Perioperative Nursing practices as set forth in the Hospital's policies. Ensures that staff are adhering to strict Standard Precautions and Blood-Borne Pathogens protocols. Ensures that OR staff remain proficient and be knowledgeable of surgeons' needs, techniques, and requirements at all times in the scrub or circulating role. Leads efforts to maintain a safe and aseptic environment at all times for the patient and staff. Identifies the need to evaluate and revise nursing policies and procedures as the affect patient care. Participates in the QA/QI program in respective area by assisting in the planning and implementation of creative approaches to patient care. Conducts and attends regular staff meetings and in-services in order to remain current with Hospital best practices and procedures. Promotes cost effectiveness within the department through the appropriate management of time and resources. Demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and accountability when changes are made in job description and responsibility. Assumes daily patient assignment in the Operating Room and provides coverage to nursing staff as needed. Maintains appropriate certifications and professional organization memberships. Attends and participates in monthly Patient Safety Council meetings. Functions as an effective team member. Promotes cost effectiveness within various assigned departments through the appropriate management of time and resources. Demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and accountability when changes are made in job description and responsibility, including performing all qualified duties throughout other areas of the hospital. Primary Function:
- Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Perioperative Nurse Manager is responsible for coordinating all nursing care and related activities of the Operating Room in coordination with the PACU/Pre-Op Manager, Materials Management and Central Processing to deliver high quality patient care in a safe, efficient manager according to policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
Educational requirements:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred; Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Active Pennsylvania State Nursing License required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- 3 to 5 years OR nursing experience is required with demonstrated leadership and management skills required.
