Physician Assistant

JOB DUTIES
Performs comprehensive appraisal of patients 18 years and up.
Assists endocrinologist with mostly outpatient follow-up care of patients especially those with diabetes.
Assumes clinical responsibility for the following tasks performed within the Physician Assistant scope of practice including

• taking patients history,
• performing physical examination,
• ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests,
• prescribing appropriate medicine
• calling patients with results,
• refilling medication
• providing patient education,
• as well as assisting in the admission of patients to the hospital.

Provides diabetic education.
Arranges consultations and referrals for patients with chronic illnesses.
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Registered and certified in TX as an ADULT Physician Assistant.
Familiarity with EMR System, coding and billing guidelines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Good organizational skills.
Bilingual (Spanish/ English) preferred.
BLS/ACLS provider.
Diabetic educator desirable.
