Mission or Goal of Unit: Pursue the Research, Clinical, and Education Missionsof the academic medical center in the areas of Hematology, Oncology, andPalliative Care. Through bench research,clinical trials and the rigorous study of prevention and control, ourscientists pursue the many roles of medicine in treating, preventing andcontrolling the adverse effects of cancer. Our hallmark activity is translational research, where our physiciansand scientists work to bring laboratory discoveries to the patient bedside asquickly and safely as possible. Throughour training programs, our faculty train the next generation of scientists and physiciansto further advance science and practice.
Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care is seeking a candidate that will have a role in developing theCellular Immunotherapies and Transplant Clinical and Research Program at the Massey Cancer Center. This position will have a role in advancing the clinicalresearch mission and will be expected to work collaboratively with othermembers of the Massey Cancer Center.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching | Trains medical students, residents and fellows while in theclinic and on the inpatient service. Expected to actively participate in providing clinical researchopportunities for fellows.
Research | This position will be responsible for bringing the mostinnovative clinical trials in solid tumor car t-cell therapies to the Massey Cancer Center and the VCU region utilizing intra and extramuralpartnerships. In addition, reasonablescholarly activities, such as publications, presentations at national meetingsand participation in appropriate academic organizations, are expected as wellas active participation as a scientific member of the Massey Cancer Center.
Service | It is expected that the person in this position will beactive in decreasing health disparities in the community served by Massey/VCU.
Clinical | Attends on the inpatient wards and consult service, and/orsees patients in the outpatient clinic with a focus on seeing patients withindications for cellular therapies and transplants.

Required Qualifications:
- Board certified or eligible in Medical Oncology or Hematology
- Eligible for Virginia licensure
- Evidence of accomplishment/potential (e.g. - publications, trial PI) during medical school, residency, fellowship, and academic career
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplant
