Senior Category Development Manager Job Summary

Working with limited guidance, the Senior Category Development Manager will guide the execution of sales and category management initiatives, making recommendations based upon a deep analysis and understanding of business results, competitive data, and consumer insights, relevant to regional/national branded accounts.

This position is a hybrid role and will require working in Empire's Newport, KY office 2 - 3 days per week.

Senior Category Development Manager Key Responsibilities
  • Utilizing multiple data resources, lead the development of new item presentations and/or category reviews, interpreting data to provide actionable insights to drive category growth
  • Coordinate with sales leads on customer presentation development by identifying and prioritizing category and brand opportunities at the account, and presenting data-based insights both to clients and to our retail partner
  • Align with industry peers on category review process to provide unbiased category recommendations to our retail partner
  • Own post-promotional analytic process, identifying successes and opportunities
  • Generate and analyze weekly, monthly and annual reporting to track brand and category performance
  • Leverage data to provide event and quarterly forecasting and to monetize trade budget impacts
  • Efficiently respond to internal and external ad hoc requests as received


Senior Category Development Manager Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in related field required
  • 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing Category Management or Analyst role required
  • Previous management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in analyzing data from various sources to provide insights and recommendations
  • IRI/Nielsen, 84.51 Stratum & Market 6 experience required
  • Experience in creating and presenting PowerPoint presentations in front of an audience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Access, Power BI a plus
