Job Description

Develops, implements and maintains an environmentally sound, safe, healthy and legally compliant workplace by applying environmental and safety expertise. Assesses workplace hazards personally and through safety committees and associates and works to eliminate or safeguard against the hazards. Observes the facilities environmental practices and takes actions as needed to ensure compliance. Fosters a team culture in the EHS group. Mentors less experienced EHS professionals, as applicable. Develops and gives effective training. Able to perform detailed investigations and solve complex problems. Dependent upon the level, responsible for the development, management and adhering to project schedules and budgets in the implementation of EHS projects. Will exhibit abilities to perform, execute, and complete projects ranging from small scope to complex site and multi-plant. Higher levels will provide leadership and professional guidance for less experienced engineers and technicians, manufacturing and finishing operations and related Associates.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION:
Bachelors or Master's Degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline, or equivalent manufacturing experience, or an Associate degree in Safety, Health and Environmental.

EXPERIENCE:
Ranging from two years of experience working in manufacturing being knowledgeable of environmental, health or safety requirements, or equivalent Co-op education training/Intern experience in an EHS environment, to ten years of experience in an industrial EHS capacity. Experience and knowledge of ISO 14001 auditing processes preferred.

SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:
Ability to read, interpret and effectively communicate SCDHEC, EPA, DOT, OSHA and other regulations to associates, supervisors and managers. Stays abreast of regulatory changes.
Ability to assess and identify workplace hazards and work with pertinent departments to eliminate or safeguard against them.
Ability to design, develop and deliver effective EHS training.
Ability to conduct audits and inspections; and identify non-routine problems and determine cause and effect.
Effective verbal and written communicator that is capable of writing procedures, agency communications and clear, fact based technical reports with conclusions and recommendations.
Organized and has good recordkeeping practices.
Ability to get others to rally around goals such as Fujifilm's health and wellness initiatives and campus recycling.
Ability to implement industrial hygiene studies, interpret results and provide corrective actions as needed.
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques to solve EHS problems.
Eager to learn, self-motivated and requires minimum supervision. Proficient in project management skills.
Knowledge of SCDHEC, NFPA, building codes and OSHA regulations.
Detail oriented individual that reviews their own work before peer review.
Ability to adjust to changing circumstances; good time management skills; understands the value of prioritization.
On-call rotation required.
Ability to Lead and manage emergencies such as fire or chemical spills, and managing functional tasks for ERT teams (First Responder, Fire Brigade, HAZMAT and Confined space).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Environmental: Some working knowledge and eagerness to learn in the following areas: Air, Water, Waste, Hazardous Materials Transportation, TSCA, Radiation, etc. Responsibilities may include recordkeeping, reporting, inspections and providing training.

Industrial Safety: Good working knowledge in but not limited to the following areas: Emergency Response, Electrical Safety, Blood borne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, PPE, Powered Industrial Trucks, Compressed air cylinders, Machine Guarding, Walking-working surfaces, Lock out tag out, Hand and Power Tools, Overhead Cranes and Hoists, Confined spaces, OSHA recordkeeping and reporting, and the benefits of ergonomics and the need for a workplace violence program. Eager to learn and strives to better understand industrial processes and how to apply aforementioned safety programs. Steers safety/health programs to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards, diseases and illnesses.
Industrial Hygiene: Applies knowledge based on education and experience. Collects samples of dust, gases, vapors and other potentially toxic materials for analysis. Reviews and interprets results of the IH study and implements changes as needed to protect worker health and safety.

Compliance: Supports and oversees the day-to-day safety campus activities (manufacturing, waste water treatment, finishing operations, maintenance, office personnel, contractors, etc.) by monitoring activities, ensuring that OSHA, EPA, SCDHEC, etc., regulations are observed. Has knowledge of federal, state and local laws involving safety and environmental regulations, code compliance and quality standards. Participates in or leads team efforts to ensure Fujifilm compliance with laws. Evaluates new construction, projects and process modifications and develops strategies for compliance.

Training and Leadership: Gives needed safety and environmental training to plant Associates. Higher level engineers will direct, coach, mentor and review less experienced technicians and engineers. Ensures that safety committees are kept on track and engaged. Counsels associates and management concerning safe work practices in a way to promote desired action by explanation of issues at hand and imparting potential repercussions if done unsafely. Will call off work if safe and legal practices are not in place. Also counsels factories on environmental responsibilities.

Programs and Projects: Develops and coordinates process for safety and environmental awareness and other broad based safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe conditions and behavior. Coordinates efforts such as safety committees, OSHA compliance and accident investigations. Directs project managers on how to ensure on-site contractors work safely and remain in environmental compliance. Observes contractors personally as needed.

Accident Prevention and Investigation: Demonstrates hands-on application of technical knowledge. Conducts accident investigations and promptly reviews accident reports to identify patterns of injury and to determine whether unsafe conditions contributed to the accident; advises management of trends in injuries and proper safety procedures that may result in reduction of injuries and accidents; provides associates with information that will aid in reducing accidents and improve safety. Promotes the on-site safety observation program. Encourages industrial athleticism and a lifestyle of personal health and wellness to prevent injuries and illness.

EHS & Q Department Support:
Effectively works with others within the team to achieve goals. Effectively communicates with co-workers and manager. Performs all additional duties as assigned by Senior Manager and ERC Manager. Follows all Fujifilm Code of Conduct and maintains and adheres to Fujifilm Safety Policies and Procedures.
