The University of Miami Health System, Miller School of Medicine is initiating a search for a Cath Lab Director, Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine.
Essential Job Functions:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and interventional cardiology section
Develop and implement clinical protocols and quality control standards to ensure patient safety and optimize patient outcomes
Provide patient-centered care and perform complex cardiovascular interventions, including angioplasty, stenting, and other procedures
Evaluate and manage patients with complex cardiovascular diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings
Interventional procedures in Cath Lab
STEMI call
In-patient CCU service Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patients' needs
Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
Orders studies, test and ancillary services in patient medical records
Documents all services in patient medical records
Reviews on a regular basis long-term cases that require ongoing medical attention
Consults with leadership and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements
Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients
Works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care to patients
Fosters an environment of continuous learning and improvement by participating in and leading educational initiatives, such as grand rounds, journal clubs, and research projects
Serves as a mentor and role model to junior colleagues, residents, and medical students, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development
Acts as a liaison between the cardiology department and other clinical departments and hospital leadership to improve communication, collaboration, and patient outcomes
Participates in administrative and committee responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Cardiology.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information and adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
Board certification in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease
Current Florida medical license
DEA registration
At least five years of clinical experience as an Interventional Cardiologist
Demonstrated excellence in leadership, education, and academic pursuits, including research, teaching, and quality improvement
Performs in tactful and professional manner, superior patient engagement skills
